Children's Book Week

Children's Book Week is celebrated in late August each year.

Events include:

  • MYOSB Awards Presentation
An event to acknowledge the winners of the Make Your Own Story Book competition is held at the Subiaco Public Library on the first Sunday of Book Week.

  • Public Libraries Program
Metropolitan and Regional libraries in WA conduct a number of events during Children’s Book Week including author and illustrator visits and workshops, storytelling and theatre. These events are available to local schools. Grants to run these events are available from the WA Branch of the Children’s Book Council in association with the Department of Culture and the Arts, Country Arts WA and Healthway.

A summary of the events held by Public Libraries during Children’s Book Week 2007, including the names of authors/illustrators/storytellers, participating schools and partnerships within the community and feedback on the success of the activities is available in the attached documents Country Metropolitan.

This information is provided to give schools and libraries some insight into the activities available around the state and also provide ideas to incorporate into Children’s Book Week activities.

  • School Events
Many schools organise events and programs to promote reading using the CBCA merchandise and the WA Branch Book Week Ideas and Activities.
