Peppermint Grove Retreat
Peppermint Grove Retreat offers WA emerging and established authors and illustrators of Children’s and Young Adult books an opportunity to escape their daily lives to focus on creating for a maximum period of two weeks between 1 – 15 June 2025.
With support from the Children’s Book Council of Australia WA Branch and the owner and host, who will be in residence and available to assist if required, Peppermint Grove Retreat is offered free of charge to successful applicants.
Regional creatives may apply to receive a contribution towards travel expenses.

Peppermint Grove Retreat June 2025
The inaugural Peppermint Grove Retreat ended on 14 June with a celebratory afternoon tea and a relaxed presentation from the writers, Renee Treml, Maria Alessandrino, Renae Hayward and Louisa Mitchell.

About Roderick HouseRoderick House at 37 Leake St Peppermint Grove was built in 1897 and has recently been lovingly restored to its former glory with modern features including internet access and reverse-cycle air conditioning.
Amenities include: • three individual bedrooms and workspaces • shared lounge, bathroom, laundry, kitchen, dining area and outdoor space • close to the river, Cottesloe Train Station and bus services • street parking in Leake Street • cafés and a supermarket within walking distance • general supplies for breakfast, lunch and evening meals provided, please be available to help prepare and clean kitchen after meals |

• willingness to write an article for the CBCA WA newsletter and present a talk about their experiences while on the retreat to a group of adults |
• your own laptop and personal writing/art materials required for your work
• personal items including clothing, hair dryer and toiletries |
