The 2027 CBCA Book Week theme is Catch the Reading Bug, illustrated by award-winning creative Danny Snell.
This is the kind of extremely contagious bug you actually want to catch 🪰
So, what do you think would happen if you caught the reading bug? Well, it goes without saying that if you catch the reading bug, you develop a healthy fascination with books and reading. But surprisingly (and this is a little-known fact), you may also grow wings, just like the mysterious Reading Bug. So, pick up a book and see if you can catch the reading bug.
You never know … you might also grow a beautiful set of wings to transport you somewhere special.
Children’s Book Week will run from Saturday 21 August to Friday 27 August 2027.

Become a CBCA Book of the Year Awards Judge - APPLY NOW

The annual CBCA Book of the Year Awards affirm the quality of the work of some of Australia's most creative people and provide a boost to their capacity to devote time to their craft. Established in 1946, the Book of the Year Awards aim to promote quality literature for young Australians, support and encourage a wide range of Australian writers and illustrators of children’s books and celebrate contributions to Australian children’s literature. The Children’s Book Council of Australia receives hundreds of entries for the Book of the Year Awards. Volunteer judges demonstrate in-depth knowledge and expertise to select the very best of Australian children’s literature. Successful applicants will receive a $1,000 honorarium upon completion of each judging year, in recognition of their valuable contribution to the Awards program. The length of the written application and CV should not exceed 500 words. |
